For Immediate Release: July 8, 2014 (Asheville, NC) Avadim Technologies, Inc. has received a signed contract from Mercy Hospital Springfield. It is part of Mercy, the fifth largest Catholic health care system in the nation. The contract is for three years and encompasses the entire Theraworx product line. The initial focus is to utilize the Theraworx SilverFirst Protocol for catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) prevention and the Theraworx bathing systems for intensive care unit (ICU) patients. No stranger to the technology, the Mercy Research Institute has been testing and assisting in thedevelopment of the product line over the past seven years.
“The development of new products to help us fight hospital-acquired infections is so important,”explained Keela Davis, director of Mercy Research & Development. “Along with unnecessary pain and discomfort for patients, infections are also an unnecessary cost. We’ve been pleased to help with the scientific development of this product and are now going to see it benefit our patients.”
Theraworx has recently completed studies at several large health systems that showed a 70 to 100 percent reduction in CAUTIs.
“We are very excited about the contract we received from Mercy,” said Steve Woody, President and CEO of Avadim Technologies, Inc. “To be able to work with the Institute over the past seven years, and see this come to fruition, it is truly a special day.”
